How we're shaping a more positive future

We work across industries and sectors that impact the core issues affecting the world right now. We take seriously the opportunity and responsibility to play our part in shaping a more positive future for all our stakeholders.

Our clients, society and planet are facing new and evolving challenges. To help solve these problems we believe in going beyond the day job and being active participants in our communities, combatting climate change and working across our industries to bring about social change to create a more prosperous and equitable tomorrow. From making donations to charities that improve life in the communities we work with, partnering with organisations that encourage social mobility and becoming operationally net zero as a firm, we believe in setting goals that are achievable, realistic and impactful.

Community

Contributing to the wellbeing, prosperity and health of the wider world is something that we take seriously. We respect, support and engage with the communities in which we operate.

The LCP Foundation, established in 2019, gives us a formal framework to commit to supporting our local communities through matching, grants and volunteering, all with the goal to promote LCP as a force for social good. The LCP Foundation is one of our proudest achievements; we believe supporting charities helps to empower our local communities. In 2024-25 the Foundation will donate £250,000 to charity.

LCP actively engages with the communities that are local to our offices and the charitable causes that LCP colleagues hold dear. Our London and Winchester communities groups seek to foster strong relationships with local and national charities. This allows us to achieve maximum impact for fundraising and volunteering, drawing on enthusiastic and widespread support from across the firm.

Environment

The transition to low carbon and environmental resilience has been a key focus for LCP for many years and we are proud that we have been operationally carbon neutral (for scope 1 and 2 emissions) since 2021.

We have been able to make this commitment following a big reduction in our carbon emissions as a result of monitoring our energy and resource use, and constantly looking for ways to further reduce them. We will soon be publishing a full roadmap for how we will reduce our carbon footprint in the long term.

At LCP, much of our environmental impact comes through the day-to-day actions of our people carrying out their roles. This is why the engagement of our people on the issue of reducing our footprint is so important. Our Green Champions Network is a group of people from across all business areas who have come together to promote environmentally friendly office practices and ensure third party relationships are as green as possible.

We have also recently refurbished our Winchester office, and took the opportunity to undertake changes to improve environmental efficiency including introducing solar panels, using renewable energy providers, installing electric car charging points and increasing bike storage.

We recognise that while our own environmental actions are important, the influence we can have extends far beyond that. We work closely with clients across sectors to support the energy transition, most widely through our energy arm, LCP Delta, and through our Responsible Investment advice.

People, diversity, equity and inclusion

Our success depends on the energy, motivation, and talent of our people; so it is important that we offer an enjoyable and supportive place to work.

Public interest

We have representatives on over 60 different external professional and trade committees and groups, including ones organised by the Association of Consulting Actuaries, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and the Society of Pension Professionals. In this way, we share our knowledge and expertise with others in our industry, contributing to policy development and the public interest.

We have a commitment to working across our industries to improve policies and provide insightful analysis of issues in the public policy arena. This year our people have worked on various issues such as the development of regulation around climate change reporting and campaigns to reunite women with money they are owed due to underpaid state pensions.

We respond to various consultations and you can view our responses here.

Suppliers

We ask about environmental and social factors when selecting our suppliers and support local, independent suppliers where possible.

We have developed a new supplier onboarding process, another step on our journey to make sure that CSR is part and parcel of our supplier relationships.

The values of our suppliers must be aligned with our own. Our Statement of Supplier Expectations sets out the minimum standards we expect all our suppliers to meet. Suppliers are also subject to our due diligence, which gives us an opportunity to find out about their practices using our online questionnaire.
