Mansion House reforms – Time for change in DB pensions? With Sir Stephen Timms MP
The Chancellor’s Mansion House speech in July was accompanied by a wide range of announcements on the theme of ‘productive finance’, covering everything from trustee duties, value for money, DC investment strategies and consolidation of small pots.
A key consultation covered a range of ideas for more productive use of DB funds, including our own LCP idea to power possibility in pensions which we discussed in our webinar back in May 2023.
On 4 September, the day before the DB call for evidence closes, we were delighted to be joined by Stephen Timms MP, who chairs the Work and Pensions Select Committee which is currently undertaking an inquiry into DB pensions.
Our expert speakers Sir Steve Webb, David Fairs and Laasya Shekaran discussed the call for evidence, including issues such as:
- What are the different ideas for DB funding reform under consideration?
- How could the Pension Protection Fund be involved?
- What are the challenges with the different ideas?
- How likely are any of these reforms to happen?
