As a Partner in our longevity pension risk transfer practice, I specialise in providing insurance de-risking and long-term strategy advice to both trustee and corporate clients.
Over the last ten years I have helped a number of our largest clients successfully complete both buy-in and buy-out transactions including some of the largest deals in the market - such as the £6.5bn buy-ins completed by RSA in 2023, the collateralised buy-in transaction between ICI Pension Fund and Legal & General and the recent buy-ins completed by M&S Pension Scheme.
I focus on collaborative working with both my clients and their existing advisers and have strong project management skills to ensure successful execution.
I also provide general pensions advice to a number of trustee and corporate clients.
Recent example transactions include:
- RSA - £6.5bn buy-in (2023)
- Deutsche Bank – 3x buy-ins totalling over £1bn (2020 to 2022)
- ICI - 20 x collateralised pensioner buy-ins totalling £9bn (2014 to 2022)
- Marks and Spencer – 6x buy-ins totalling £3.5bn (2018 to 2020)
- Ladbrokes Pension Plan - £420m full buy-in (2019)
- PA Pension Scheme - £850m full buy-in (2018)
The buy-in process we have recently concluded required patience and tact to accommodate all the concerns and views of the various trustees. All steps in the process were explained simply and additional advice/explanation given when asked for...often repeated but without any judgement.
