Ed Harrison
He/HimI help insurers with a wide range of actuarial and risk management challenges. My clients value my hands-on, collaborative approach, and my ability to clearly cut through the technical detail and get to the key issues. I have over 10 years’ industry experience and hold a UK Chief Actuary’s Practicing Certificate.
On the actuarial side, my main areas of expertise are reserving, outsourced actuarial function, and Solvency II. I have led reserve reviews for a wide range of personal lines, commercial lines and London Market insurers and have provided actuarial function support to several others. I am also a Solvency II expert and have helped firms navigate the technical aspects of compliance in a pragmatic and value-adding way.
On the risk management and ERM side, I have helped insurers in a wide range of areas, including: producing and reviewing ORSA reports; managing the end-to-end risk management process; validating capital models; and performing deep-dive reviews in areas from exposure management to people risk.
I also hold the following volunteer roles at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries:
- Member of the general insurance practice board
- Chair of the reserving research group
- Member of the lifelong learning committee, which organises the GIRO conference.
