Energy transition Energy consultancy Business growth advice Customer & market insightWe utilised its in-house expertise and data to provide a comprehensive new data set on the European energy retailer customer numbers to support the client in easily identifying markets and companies to target first in their expansion strategy.
The background
The client provides a range of cloud-based services for energy retailers and was developing its strategy for expansion across Europe and as part of the early stages of the strategy they required a tool to identify markets and retailers. They wanted to quickly identify key companies and markets to target but finding the data to help them make these decisions would be difficult and time consuming for them.
What the client needed and their key question(s)
The client wanted data on the gas and electricity customer numbers of the energy retailers in 30 European countries. An easy to use and comprehensive database of energy retailers would provide them with the first step in developing their strategy.
Our solution
As part of our Energy Insights+ research service we have leading insights into the European energy retailer market, including data on customer numbers. We drew on this in-house data and knowledge on the market and undertook additional desk-based research to build on our existing data to cover the customer numbers of over 200 retailers across 30 different countries.
Our impact
Visibility on the energy retailer customer numbers across Europe varies hugely, with many countries having limited publicly available or easily identifiable information, making it difficult to identify which companies to target. LCP Delta’s leading expertise and in-house data across Europe allowed us to quickly collate the relevant in-house data and develop a systematic approach to identifying remaining data points. This meant we were able to provide the client with an easy-to-use data set of the retailer customer numbers within just 2 weeks, preventing unnecessary delays to their expansion.
