The Background
The client is a successful European provider of eMobility solutions and is looking to grow revenue from providing services in the UK. The client is interested in understanding the UK EV charging market to expand its services and identify potential partners to work with in the UK.
What the client needed and their key question(s)
The client needed to deepen its understanding of the structure of the EV charging market, key players active and the services customers want in the UK to confirm its hypothesis that the UK is an attractive market for it to target. The key questions the client had were:
- What is the current structure of the UK EV charging market?
- What are the potential partners to work with in the UK for the client?
Our solution
We adopted a three-stage approach to deliver this study.
Firstly, we provided a high-level overview of the UK EV charging market to provide the client with the first insights of the current situation of this market. We provided insights on the key trends in the market, forecasts for EV uptake, information on the major market players and insights into the fleet market. We also provided the client with the regulatory and policy framework in place in the UK for the EV charging market.
The second stage involved organising a workshop to define the key criteria for the client in identifying a list of potential partners to consider. We used our EV charging key player database as a starting point. Based on these criteria and on our expertise and knowledge of the market players, we identified a shortlist of companies that we investigated through additional research.
In stage three, we provided recommendations on companies for exploring potential partnerships with to support the client in developing their strategy in the UK.

Our study helped the client better understand the current state of the UK EV charging market and how the market will evolve in the future. The client is working on its strategy helped by this study to assess the opportunity for entering the UK EV charging market.
