Appointing a fiduciary manager

Background

Our client had decided to appoint a fiduciary manager, and wanted to take independent advice on the selection.

Our approach

We ran a thorough and bespoke selection process, first identifying the client’s key objectives for the mandate. We put together a long list of fiduciary providers, including the incumbent consultant and existing investment manager. We arranged a Q&A session and initial proposals from all 7 long-listed providers, subsequent full written responses and presentations from 4 shortlisted providers and, finally, site visits to two providers, before identifying a preferred provider.

Outcome

The Trustees were confident in their choice of fiduciary provider, supported by our independent and bespoke approach. We also assisted the client during the appointment of the selected fiduciary manager, ensuring that the terms and constraints were appropriate from an investment point of view.
